After growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, Scott met his wife Marcie at college in North Carolina. And it’s been happily ever after since then! They’ve had a wonderful time enjoying how God has added to their family. Scott and Marcie have four children: Chloe, Kylie, Caleb, and Colin who have added much joy to their life.
Prior to serving at Northside, Scott has served churches in Florida, North Carolina, and Kentucky. While completing master’s and doctoral degrees, Scott served as the Director of Recruiting and Admissions at the flagship seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention, helping to lead expansion in the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral enrollments at that historic institution.
Training and experience have built a strong commitment to the local church into Scott’s heart and he is passionate about helping people discover the immense joy to be had in being a follower of Christ. Scott seeks to be a passionate communicator of God’s Word, to encourage people on to serious discipleship, and to foster a love for the Gospel that seeks to spread the name of Jesus both locally and internationally.
Scott's passion for children and their lives began shortly after the birth and adoption of his oldest son, Phillip. It was then, the Lord allowed him to see the different melds of family it takes for a child to live in today’s world and many of them without salvation and the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. It is Scott's desire to see the children not only accept Christ as their savior, but also for them to have a solid base and deep roots in the Lord to rely on as teenagers and adults to carry them through life.
Scott has served in many children's ministry roles. From teaching Sunday School to Chairman of Board of an After School / Summer Program before becoming on staff at Northside in January 2011.
Scott is married to his wife of 26 years, Kelly, and they have two boys, Phillip and Sam. They live on an 8 acre farm in Chester.
